Powering transit with wind...from cars?

More News & Resources:

Mark Oberholzer of Wittenberg Oberholzer Architects in Houston proposes a unique idea for greening transit: using the wind generated by cars and trucks on freeways as a fuel source. Passing vehicles drive wind turbines built into freeway dividers, which then can serve as a local power source for transit overhead. Oberholzer's design was a runner-up in Metropolis Magazine's 2006 Next Generation design contest, and it continues to inspire designers looking for new ways to power transit.
