Thinking Outside the Farebox: Creative Approaches to Financing Transit Projects
Transportation for America has created a guidebook, "Thinking Outside the Farebox: Creative Approaches to Financing Transit Projects," which is designed to help community leaders to meet the demand for transit by identifying options for raising the money needed to build and operate an expanded transit system.
In an effort to spread the word, Transportation for America, with local sponsors, will hold workshops on federal transit financing in a post-earmark era in St. Petersburg, FL, on Sept. 19; Seattle, WA, on Oct. 4; and Nashville, TN, Oct. 11. The workshops bring together high level officials from the U.S. Department of Transportation, national transportation financing experts, and leaders from other regions with transit success stories.
Reconnecting America President & CEO John Robert Smith will be speaking at each workshop.
Reconnecting America co-chairs the Transportation for America campaign with Smart Growth America. T4 includes a coalition of more than 500 members including business, housing, environment, development, labor, health, aging and transportation interests. T4 advocates for a transformational Federal transportation policy and investments that are economically sound, respond to markets and improve the lives of people.
